What is bunting known as in the old wold ?

A name used in the Old World for a group of finchlike birds which live mostly in open country. Bunting is used for the colourful members of a closely related group that includes CARDINALS. Old world buntings occur throughout Europe, most of Asia and large parts of America.

Many buntings are migratory, moving south in the autumn and returning to their northern breeding grounds in the spring. Outside the breeding season many buntings form flocks.
